The desktop browsing experience is also undergoing radical change, thanks to the evolution of JavaScript frameworks and the push for standards successors such as CSS3 and HTML5. It’s an exciting time to be developing or designing for the web.

The latest SoundManager 2 version now comes with free HTML5 Audio support which makes it a HTML5 Audio()-capable JavaScript Sound API, backwards-compatible via Flash fallback for MP3/MP4 formats.

You would have guessed at most of these, but maybe not the WebSimpleDB/IndexedDB one. If a project has “simple” in the name, it normally isn’t…. just like when a project has “open” in the name. It is a strange name since we have simple storage through localStorage and friends.

RGraph is a graphing/charting software component for websites. It uses HTML5 technologies (the new Canvas tag) which is already present in most modern web browsers to create and show graphs/charts.

Weston Ruter has created a very cool library that enables CSS gradients on non-WebKit browsers (at least, a subset). Incredibly cool: CSS Gradients via Canvas provides a subset of WebKit’s CSS Gradients proposal for browsers that implement the HTML5 canvas element.
